The '14th' annual Sun Dog's K-9 Uphill,
"A Snowshoe E vent for Dogs and their People"
will be held Saturday, April 11th at 10:00AM at Buttermilk Mountain.
Human/K-9 teams will snowshoe, ski or
hike 2000 vertical feet o ver two miles from the base to the east
summit Finish/Refueling “PowerStation” during this one-of-a-kind
e vent, which benefits the NEW Aspen/Pitkin Animal Shelter and Valley
Dog Rescue, two local no-kill shelters. Last year o ver 200 canine/human
teams participated in either Recreational or Competiti ve categories.
Most teams enjoy the more leisurely and social Recreational di vision.
This unique e vent has been featured in The Spirit of Colorado
TV series on PBS, the book “Canine Colorado”, and articles
in Rocky Mountain Sports Magazine, The Snowshoer, Aspen Sojourner,
Aspen Magazine and the Denver Post.

"This spring tradition celebrates the healthy mountain lifestyle we enjoy with our best friends”, according to E vent Director Erik Skar van.”Any type of equipment and breed of dog is welcome. And for those who need either, we'll ha ve complimentary Atlas snowshoes and the famous demo dogs, from the local shelters, a vailable”. All participants can take ad vantage of Erik's Epic Raffle, which offers o ver $3,000.00 in cool outdoor gear, and the popular Hot Dog Barbeque lunch. Pre-registration is a vailable at www.active.com, the Ute Mountaineer in Aspen, RJ Paddywack’s in the East Orchard Plaza or by contacting Sun Dog Athletics at (970) 925-1069 or sundog@sopris.net. Sponsorship inquiries are welcome! The pre-registration fee is $30.00. Day of event registration is also available at the base of Buttermilk for $35.00. The event is presented by Sun Dog Athletics, Aspen’s Adventure Sports School since 1996.
